Fresh Corn Angu (Savory Corn Porridge)
A smooth, creamy corn porridge made from fresh corn kernels, perfect as a first food for babies. This naturally sweet and nutritious dish is easy to digest and provides essential vitamins and fiber. Serve warm for a comforting meal.

Ingredients
- 5 ears fresh green corn
- 500 ml water
Method
- 1
Cut the kernels off the cobs and place them in a blender with the water.
Use a sharp knife and be careful to avoid cutting yourself. Ensure the corn is fresh and free from mold.
- 2
Process until it becomes a smooth, creamy liquid.
Blend for at least 1-2 minutes to achieve a fine consistency suitable for babies.
- 3
Place a large sieve over a pot and strain the mixture, pressing well to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids (pulp).
Press firmly with a spoon to maximize liquid extraction, but discard any fibrous pulp to prevent choking hazards.
- 4
Place the pot over medium heat. Stir constantly, just like you would with a porridge, until it begins to thicken.
Stir continuously to prevent sticking or burning, which can affect the taste and texture.
- 5
After a few minutes, you will notice some lumps starting to form. Do not stop stirring! Keep whisking/stirring so these lumps dissolve and the angu becomes thick and velvety.
Whisk vigorously to break up lumps and ensure a smooth, baby-safe consistency.
- 6
Note: Do not let it get too hard while on the stove. The angu will continue to firm up significantly as it cools.
Remove from heat when it reaches a thick but pourable consistency. Let it cool to a safe temperature before serving to baby.
