Gentle Peach Puree

Ingredients

  • 2 medium ripe peaches
  • 2 tbsp water (optional)

Method

  1. 1

Wash the peaches thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or residue.

Choose organic peaches if possible to minimize pesticide exposure, and ensure they are ripe (soft to the touch) for easier mashing.

  2. 2

Cut the peaches in half, remove the pits, and peel off the skin using a knife or by blanching in boiling water for 30 seconds.

Peach skin can be tough for babies to digest, so peeling is recommended to avoid choking hazards and ensure a smooth texture.

  3. 3

Chop the peeled peaches into small chunks and place them in a small saucepan with 2 tablespoons of water.

Adding a little water helps prevent sticking and makes the peaches easier to mash, but you can omit it if the peaches are very juicy.

  4. 4

Cover the saucepan and cook over low heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the peaches are soft and tender.

Gently cooking preserves nutrients and natural sweetness; avoid overcooking to maintain flavor and texture.

  5. 5

Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then mash the peaches with a fork or blend with an immersion blender until smooth.

For younger babies, blend to a very smooth puree; for older ones, leave it slightly chunky to encourage chewing practice.

  6. 6

Serve warm or at room temperature, and store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Always test the temperature before feeding to avoid burns, and discard any uneaten portions after feeding to prevent contamination.
